Where does Father’s Day come from?
The modern date was born in the United States: Sonora Smart Dodd proposed honoring fathers in 1910 after her own father raised six children alone. The idea spread, and by the 1970s the third Sunday of June became the norm in many countries. Spain, in contrast, kept the Catholic tradition of St. Joseph (Jesus’ adoptive father) on March 19.
